A 250-year-old white marble palace located right in the middle of Lake Pichola (guests take a boat to and from the hotel), the Taj Lake Palace is one of the most memorable places to stay in India. We recommend staying in a suite to get the full "Lake Palace experience" -- suites are decorated with rich silks, lovely murals, and ornate wooden furniture that pay homage to the building's rich and storied history. Touches like inlaid glass floral motifs around the doorways demonstrate the care that goes into even the smallest details. The impressive lobby has vaulted 100-foot-high ceilings and the guest rooms are equally grand, decorated in a tasteful Art Deco style that emphasizes clean lines -- and we love the deep marble bathtubs! Restaurants include the Trophy Bar, Risala, and the Pillars, which offers commanding views of Mahrengarh Fort and the city. Be sure to save time for a dip in the Zodiac Pool or have a cocktail on the terrace, overlooking some of the most impressive gardens in Rajasthan.THE TAJ MAHAL PALACE & TOWER - MUMBAI
An architectural marvel right across from the Gateway of India, this historic hotel has been the place to stay since its grand opening in 1903. The interior combines Moorish, Oriental and Florentine styles, dramatized with vaulted ceilings, onyx columns, graceful archways and hand-woven silk carpets. Guest rooms are located in two wings, the Palace and Tower, each representing a different era. We recommend the sea-facing Heritage Wing Rooms: these luxurious rooms have been refurbished with contemporary amenities, but the elegance of the past can be seen in the antique furniture, and artwork and artifacts that line the walls of the corridors and living spaces.IMPERIAL – NEW DELHI

UMA PARO
Nestled among dramatic snow-capped mountains and valleys, the Uma Paro seamlessly integrates itself into the eastern Himalayan countryside, one of the last pristine mountain landscapes on earth. Though local Bhutanese artisans used traditional methods in designing and building the 20 rooms and 9 villas, the result is somehow a clean-lined modernism that is both relaxing and peaceful. No luxury is spared: among other amenities, all rooms feature oversized bathrooms, DVD players, heated towel racks and in-room yoga mats. The one-room villas all have their own private spa and courtyard for absolute privacy. Using local organic produce, the restaurant serves Bhutanese cuisine combined with pan-Asian flavor and accents. More pampering awaits at the Como Shambhala spa, which offers Asian-inspired holistic treatments, a steam room, sauna, indoor pool and a yoga room.AMANKORA
Sticking to the luxurious, refined signature style of the Aman resorts, the Amankora offers 24 suites located below the remains of the 17th century fortress Drugyel Dzong. Each suite features natural rammed-earth walls, gently sloping roofs, and wood-paneled interiors with a king-size bed, a traditional bukhari wood burning stove, and a large terrazzo bath. The dining room opens onto a flagstone terrace and showcases spectacular panoramic views of the Dzong and the distant snow-capped peaks. To help guests unwind after a day hike, mountain biking, or a visit to the monastery, the spa treatments usually start with a hot-stone bath filled with local herbs followed by traditional treatments and remedies.
